Gdańsk-it is one of the oldest Polish cities, with over a thousand years of history. Gdańsk has monuments of architecture, it operates in many cultural centers and institutions. He was also a royal city and Hanseatic , in the XVI was the richest in the Republic . The first mention of Gdańsk comes from 997 years, and this was often assumed by convention as the beginning of the history of the city, although since the seventh century there was a fishing village. .
Gdańsk is considered the symbolic place of the outbreak of World War II and the beginning of the fall of communism in Central Europe .In Gdańsk was football matches during the tournament, the UEFA European Football Championship in 2012 at the stadium PGE Arena Gdańsk .
